What customers say?

“ Such a lovely coffee shop. The staff is always warm and welcoming. They always have some interesting specialty coffees to try. Today I chose to try the Famous Egg Sandwich normally I shy away from anything too different but this was absolutely worth trying and I will order it again. ”

“ Southdown is such cute coffee shop with a diverse yet simple menu, which I loved. I tried their seasonal espresso tonic, and I’m a changed woman. So delicious. Their vanilla latte and famous egg sandwich are also delicious. Would definitely recommend! Edit: Response to owner: It would be great to see some gluten free baked goods! ”

“ Doing more than the usual pot of drip, or sweetened-dairy drinks for the masses, this is a coffee shop that can do (in this case automated) Hario V60 pour overs for those looking for a really tasty cup of black coffee. I enjoyed talking coffee with the staff on both visits. The food: I had the savory and filling bacon-egg-cheese sandwich on ciabatta on my first visit and a pretty decent blueberry muffin on my second. If (when) the fancy machine flakes out, it sounds like the staff know how to do proper hand pours if needed. Great selection of coffees to try. I enjoyed the Konga Ethiopian , and then the Abocamba Peruvian on my next visit when back in town. ”

“ My favorite cup of drip coffee anywhere nearby. Friendly staff, but ambiance and service is a step behind Dark Horse. I took a star for atmosphere because its almost always hard to find a spot to work most days unless you arrive early. I think they could add a few tables, or do something more useful along the windows for seating. ”

- Greg Schipf -

“ Good menu, nice staff and good food. I had the avocado pesto grilled cheese and iced herbal tea that was fruity. I really liked it but think it would be even better with tomato butter on it. My best friend had the bacon egg and cheese sandwich and maple latte. Had a bite of hers and def recommend that egg sandwich! ”

“ This is one of my favorite breakfast spots! Food ranges from good to exceptional, but their pastries can be hit or miss. Drinks are consistently good in my opinion, my girlfriend is not a fan of their iced coffee which she thinks can be inconsistent. What keeps us coming back is the famous egg sandwich which is pickled to perfection and oh so yum! I don’t think they have enough tables and maybe would benefit from eliminating one or two of the benches to add 2-3 more tables…like a typical coffee house a lot of people seem to work from there and can linger for hours. Service is great. Parking can be tricky when it’s busy, there is a shared lot but it can fill up quickly. ”

“ Stopped in for coffee and a snack. We didn't have the breakfast, but we will be back to try. Coffee was great, and the yuzu cruller was excellent. The avocado toast was very good, but a little pricey. The service was great. The olive oil cake was very good ”

- Denise Weissman -

“ I got the strawberry matcha latte and cucumber slices w/humus. Both were made really well, the cucumber slices were crunchy and fresh, the latte was great as usual. The atmosphere is always inviting and the staff are friendly. Prices are decent and service was fast. ”
